PODCAST EQUIPMENT
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]There are SO many options when it comes to equipment for your podcast! I get asked this question SO frequently- which is why I’ve broken down 3 different levels of equipment, depending on your budget and needs![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
STARTING OUT SMALL
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY- USE WHAT YOU HAVE!
Yes- it can be as simple as your phone! I’m an iPhone user- and the voice memo app on my phone to record my thoughts! The first podcast I ever listened to used this same format and the sound was always fantastic. You can even plug in your headphones with the microphone- just beware of movement and your shirt rubbing against the mic![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Mid Level Package

Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB Cardioid Dynamic Microphone (ATR Series)USB and XLR Outputs
This was my very first microphone when getting started and comes with the pieces shown! If you don’t want to use the scissor arm and pop filter but just need a basic set up- this is a great way to go! But if you want to protect those “p’s” you’ll want to upgrade a little bit to the next items I’ve got for you!
Pop Filter
Pop filters will SAVE your life! You can attach this to your desk for easy use with the microphone- or attach it directly to the scissor arm below. This prevents the “popping” of certain words that contain the letter “p”- and also keeps the microphone a bit cleaner- without your spit flying at the mic!
Scissor Arm
The scissor arm will make your mic a little more mobile. Don’t want to hunch over at the mic? You need this! Want to relax and have the mic come to you? The scissor arm makes life SO much easier!
Sony MDR7506 Professional Large Diaphragm Headphone
These headphones are AMAZING. So comfortable over your ears with a fantastic sound! I’m on my second pair because my kids stole them and broke off the plug- but if not for that they’d have lasted a lot longer. I highly recommend![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
The Big Kahuna
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]After three years of podcasting I finally upgraded my equipment. My kids had taken my microphone as a prop for their performances one too many times, and the scissor arm no longer worked on my desk! I really wanted capacity to have GREAT sound and the control of a sound board.
This is the best equipment I’ve used- but remember I didn’t NEED it when I was getting started!
Rode Podcaster Mic
This kit is pricey- but amazing. The Rode brand is wonderful- just check out the reviews! Truthfully the set we bought is often sold out so I linked you to this one- but if you see anything Rode- grab it! Super high quality sound! You can even look for the kit that includes the scissor arm and the mic holder (it constantly sells out).
Rode WS2 Microphone Pop Filter/Wind Shield
This pop filter- makes me sound like a professional radio DJ- enough said. I LOVE it and it beats the screen filter I used for years!
Cable Matters 2-Pack Microphone Cable (Mic Cable, XLR to XLR Cable) 6 Feet
Odds and ends- these are essential in connecting all the pieces together with your sound board!
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (2nd Gen) USB Audio Interface with Pro Tools
And here she is- The Scarlett sound board- making my sound quality awesome and letting me manipulate the levels right there- avoiding lots of post production WOES![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In full disclosure all of these are linked to my Amazon affiliate account! Meaning if you buy any of these lovelies- and I hope you do cuz they are truly awesome- I’ll get a few dollars in return! If you’re not an Amazon affiliate- consider joining ASAP to monetize your podcast instantly![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
