is gonna be another power podcast episode i cannot wait to share this with you I’m chatting with one of my best friends Jenna wood she just launched something in her business that she’s been talking about for 12 months and she finally did it I’m gonna apologize in advance for the audio quality i don’t know what was happening on my end I’m gonna blame the wi-fi but Jenna sounds amazing and i cannot wait to break this down for you let’s jump in okay let’s have a real talk friend chat because you and i are business besties and i figured we’re gonna listen celebrate this anyway because all i’ve had time to do is send you some brief text so i want to share with everybody on the marvelous mompreneur podcast what you just accomplished in your business in the last like seven to ten days i don’t even remember actually putting it out there and then let’s tell the backstory of kind of how long it took to sit in that zone of like should i do this should i do this and then just doing it so first tell her what you did okay first off I’m Jenna wood i run a affordable fashion blog at hello Jenna wood on instagram and helloJennawood.com and i have been doing online business for eight years i’ve owned a shop i have been successful in an mlm i have been a fashion blogger i have done coaching so for the past eight years i’ve been doing a myriad of online business stuff and making money online and i’ve always known that i’ve wanted to share my information i wanted to teach and i wanted to help other moms be able to do the same thing that i’ve been able to do and i know there’s so many moms and so many people out there that want to do it and so it was just me i knew the need was there i knew i had the knowledge what i didn’t have was the freaking what rate is this i was getting the courage to do it yeah and so do you okay so do you want me to kind of start say how it all happened just like how i got going that’s elevator pitch that’s something i want people to get really good at doing because we live in a day where you literally need to know what you do and be able to tell people in like 30 seconds so great job introducing yourself since i didn’t i just assume everybody knows you because you’ve been here before but yes just give a recap of what you finally launched out there to pass that information on okay so i’ve been wanting to create a course for i would say a solid five years three to five years and i’ve been so intimidated and i had all these limiting beliefs and all these excuses of I’m not tech savvy enough i nobody’s gonna really pay for what i have to share i don’t what am i gonna even talk about and how it happened was i was sitting in the car listening to a james wedmore podcast his podcast is the mind your business podcast i highly recommend it he talks a lot about mindset in relation to business and the episode i think it was like 12 ways how to make money like extra ways to make money online and one of the ways he was like do an online masterclass like just do a master class charge 97 and then you can sell them something on the back end it doesn’t have to be anything fancy get on the zoom and i was like that’s what I’m doing and i literally went in to my house i got an envelope and just started writing on the back notes and then i finished a sales page that i had previously written i kind of switched it up changed it and I’m like I’m gonna go promote this on stories and I’m gonna do it and i think what really helped me be able and then we’ll talk about the success of it and like how it kind of snowballed but i think what actually helped me be able to pull the trigger was doing almost a smaller version i kept thinking i had to make this great grand beautiful course where i needed to spend hundred dollars like several hundred dollars on software like a kajabi for a course i needed to have a beautiful landing page and sales page click funnels i needed to have a videographer come video all the course material and i was like no I’m going to do an instagram live private group mastermind and people are gonna pay to listen to me talk and tell them all my secrets and share everything i have to offer and so that’s what i did and it worked out pretty dang well and this is coming this is like a big deal for me to even share this because my whole like approach is teaching people how to build online courses and so this is not to say like there’s not a value in courses but there is so much value in just taking action and that’s why i wanted you to share this because i like you said three to five years of sitting on an idea i guarantee that you doing it this way is going to lead to more education in your business right like it’s it’s you just need to get it out there and you need to test it and you need to see what people need and you need to interact with people so how did it go what was it like so i my goal was to get 10 people on and right now in the mastermind group is over a hundred so i literally 10xed my goal which is huge especially when the first time you know the offerings at a 97 rate and so i had the mastermind i did have a couple affiliates which is definitely helpful if you are selling something hey if you’re in the industry whatever industry you’re in you you have a pal you have an online friend that will help be an affiliate offer them a high commission 40 50 and have them sell it as well to their audience and so that’s what i did i sold the course i had a couple affiliates or the mastermind and i had so many people join this mastermind and here’s the thing is my sales page it was so bad i look at sales pages every day because I’m getting ads constantly because they know I’m they know an online marketer yeah they they know me more than i know myself and so i see these beautiful sales pages with highlights and videos on there and testimonials and like big bright buy now buttons and there’s like 10 of them and i know all the tricks you need in a good sales page but my email software has a like a very simple landing page where you can purchase one purchase button and you get one picture and some text I’m like i do not know if this is going to convert but I’m going to do my best i throw it up so technically free because I’m already paying for its convertkit I’m already paying for convertkit and i posted it up there and then i had a very high success rate i do the live mastermind it’s four hours long and I’m just giving everybody my information and then a flood of these amazing reviews and feedback come in and I’m like oh dang we got something here what have i been waiting for yes two it’s like i don’t care if there’s a million courses you each person is unique each person has some something else to give and you just have your own unique advantage my big thing is I’m willing to share numbers and insights into my business which i know for me as somebody who would take like want to kind of pick another entrepreneur’s successful entrepreneur’s brain that’s what i want i like want the nitty-gritty and so that’s what i was offering people and so so many of the reviews were this is the best course i’ve ever taken ps wasn’t a course everybody kept calling it a course I’m like pat myself on the back this is the best course i’ve ever taken like Jenna left everything on the table and I’m not to pat my own back it’s like I’m like kicking my fear in the face right now because it’s like why did i let that hold me back for so long when i could have been helping all these people so i get all these amazing reviews and then i was like i gotta sell something on the back end so super janky super easy i say at the end of my mastermind I’m like hey I’m opening an exclusive private small group coaching for and i set a price and i the prices i did a one-time fee and then I’m gonna turn it in for the first people who join the mastermind and then it’s gonna be a monthly fee and i had so many people join that group so not only did i sell them in the mastermind and i feel like that’s a huge um confirmation when people are then joining your other paid offer and they want to learn more and grow more from you and one of the reviews was like anything you sell i will buy i had people asking if i do one-on-one coaching I’m like no but this is the best thing you can get is joining the private small group coaching so then I’m selling that and then guess what people I’m gonna take i have pages and pages of notes for my four-hour mastermind I’m gonna take my phone and I’m gonna record those in sections and then I’m gonna sell it for a course at like two and a half times the price yes oh I’m so happy you said that because i was hoping that’s where things were gonna head i would have told you to do that regardless i was like i don’t want to push her i don’t want to be too bossy because I’m just proud that you did it but that is so inspiring to me as somebody who my last episode i talked about how i get too stuck in like wanting it to be perfect and trying to curate all this stuff and I’m really addicted to creating courses but I’m not really good at selling them and talking about them because i just love the creation of the funnel you were literally the opposite where you hate that part yeah i just want to talk to people so this is really really good advice to someone who’s just like i want to start a course i want to start building my authority as an expert in my field so that i can get paid for my knowledge what a fantastic way to get it out there and just get started and now you can go polish it create something that you can sell to the masses because you now have probably like a hundred reviews testing yes people that are golden like who knew this is like my niche this is my thing and you’re sitting here schooling me on how to just get the dang thing done well i think that’s the thing is i i created kind of something that wasn’t there yeah because it was just my style this is like you know me I’m I’m like a janky type like how can we duct tape this together like that’s just kind of it’s probably because I’m not super techy and I’m like hey i know instagram oh get this even better for my offer for my private group coaching i was like hey folks here’s my venmo here’s my paypal not even a sales page oh my gosh because i didn’t have time I’m like going off the fly and guess what i still had several people join and that’s the thing is sometimes we think we need all these fancy things and first and i’ll get there and what’s awesome is once i get there then i can sell it to the masses then i can put it on facebook ads and it can be more automated to where I’m not like you know seeing somebody’s email and then adding them making sure they paid and putting them into the group which i would do it all over again yeah but i do want to say one other thing and I’m wanting to create um a system i don’t know if I’m just going to share it in my private group coaching but like really nail down the system for people so that they can replicate it but then what i did was so i had done the mastermind it was live and i was like that was awesome but then i just have this like amazing valuable content that people just spent 97 dollars for sitting there right there in this group i was like what if i do one more launch and there’s a lot of price tactics like you know that went into play and i would love to like you know share and teach more about that because there is you know a lot on price psychology and and making it an irresistible offer and so i relaunched it one more time i was like okay guys i and i screenshotted some requests like i keep getting messages like this begging me to open the mastermind asking if people can purchase the replay and i said 24 hours i will put it up 24 hours back to the original price and then the doors are closed and i did i wasn’t even planning on relaunching it that was just like an idea i was like oh because we’re just doing everything on the fly and then i relaunched it and i did just as much almost as the first launch so i basically doubled my income by launching it for another 24 hours and you relaunched you double launched in under a week like and created the course Kirsten i didn’t even have the course made when i the mastermind when i sold it oh my gosh and that’s what james wedmore talks about he’s like and he said he’s done that before i was like that is freaking crazy who would do that seriously it’s amazing he did it you did it you did it and you made you had a five-figure launch which is amazing because you waited for such a long time i mean you talked about a mastermind style thing all year last year like we had so many conversations about how we could do something like that together and just taking action and doing it finally and having i mean you know i love james wedmore i he’s my guy right like yeah it’s fantastic that you actually did it so what would you tell people and then we’ll wrap this up because we’re keeping this really brief but what would you tell people who are stuck in imposter syndrome and they want it to be perfect and they don’t dare put it out there until it’s all figured out so it’s funny you you brought that up because i almost forgot i paid a thousand dollars to be in a mastermind course teaching me how to do masterminds and i was crap in my pants like no no no i can’t do this to you know what one of my biggest hookups was i don’t know how to do zoom i’ve never been on a zoom call which is like super embarrassing to me in 2021 like my third grader’s been on a zoom call like now i’ve been on a couple but like i was like i don’t even know how to like open a chat room and that’s the thing guess what neither do does my like target audience really yeah so i feel like in order for you to really just like go out of the gate there’s a couple things one use something leverage what you already know and what you already have two i was thinking about doing this in a private facebook group but it’s like if I’m selling it on instagram all my homegirls are on instagram why in the crap am i gonna try to push them all to facebook right like and serve them on facebook it’s like no like literally this was free free like anybody can start another instagram group make it private and charge for people to get in for whatever you’re offering so one is just use whatever you got and then two what was the second thing i was gonna say oh this was it so when i was listening to the james wedmore podcast he was talking about like oh just do a small group coaching just do this it was like all these mini offers instead of like be a boss launch a course and then have a funnel and a drip sequence and blah blah blah and like it was like i was like I’m gonna call it a small group coaching if i go back to my archives and my stories i called it a small group coaching you know why because i was worried i was honestly scared that like that’s what it would be like nobody would be joining so that’s what you do you say I’m serving just a few a handful of people exc and you just say that in first and see how it goes if nobody joins you keep it at that and you say yep like three people do like three people are in and I’m closing it I’m focusing on those three like it’s all marketing and it’s all just how you you know like you just gotta get it in your head of how you want it to be so it’s less intimidating so for me calling it a small group coaching mastermind i was like okay that takes the pressure off like i can do a small group coaching and then like two if you want to do that and nobody joins and then you’re like I’m gonna be embarrassed because then people are gonna see zero people followed this instagram group have your friends join you know yeah like yep there’s always a workaround there’s always a work around like just start small start janky and just get her done do it just have have that 10 minutes and like i knew when i listened to that podcast i was like i can’t even finish the episode turned it off wrote down some notes finished that sales page and then got on my phone as fast as i could to get on stories because i was scared out of my mind have that 10 minutes of courage two minutes whatever they you know 10 seconds i think it’s the actual term i needed 10 minutes though to do what i needed to do and and just really lean into that and go and that’s why i didn’t have time to do i had kind of a little bit of an outline but honestly not really because i actually shifted and changed and because i was going to be interviewing other people and that was the thing too i was like i need to interview other people because i don’t know if just by myself it’s like enough value or good enough and it’s like what was i kidding myself seriously yep I’m so glad you had that realization because i always knew you could stand on your own two feet and you didn’t need to collaborate with other people and you took the training wheels off and you just hit the ground yeah and you peddled that thing into an amazing launch and relaunch and so what okay so this is time sensitive right like uh people listening to this podcast they may listen uh a week from now a month from now a year from now so for the time being right now at least while you’re listening in january 2021 you wanted to open up and give my listeners an opportunity to jump in if they haven’t yet so what do they need to do we’re literally so as we go because it’s still on the fly right yeah that’s what’s amazing so the mastermind is completely closed it’s close to the public only the people that are in the mastermind can watch the replay and listen to the mastermind and first of all for those interested in the mastermind it’s I’m just sharing how i have scaled in in the last seven months i have taken an account from zero to 225 000 followers on tick tock i’ve grown my instagram by 10k in the last few months my pinterest from 16 000 monthly viewers to a million monthly viewers landed four figure brand deals literally from zero to seven months doing all these things and i’ve been doing business for that past eight years and i think it was just good timing too because I’m like you know what anybody could do this i literally just started and i want to help other people like there’s never been a time like this like Kirsten we’ve been in this game for a long time have you ever seen anything that has the virality and the success rate of tick tock and reals no only now am i seeing it with clubhouse too but even still that’s such a different approach but no nothing for free and organic without having to pay to play be able to have that success you know without having to yeah to be able to go viral and I’m kicking myself because my very first tick tock was 2019 towards the end of 2019. and can you imagine stuff all through 2020 can you imagine it kills me but it’s never late and there’s a lot of time yeah and literally any niche can be on tick tock there’s people doing a sign language a day video with 100k followers like literally any niche any topic you will find your community on tick tock and you can serve them there so that’s what I’m sharing in the mastermind really if you’re just beginning it’s for anybody who wants to scale their following their social following and their
