again hopefully you just look forward to podcast days I do I love sharing all this great stuff with you and i’ve held on to a lot of insight for a long time and hopefully you’re just soaking it all in like a sponge speaking of sponges I remember when i first started in you know podcasting as an entrepreneur and starting to build businesses online my mentor tara who i’ve had on the podcast like three times telling me wow you’re like a sponge you’re really really soaking this in and I did and I always have and I love soaking in but I also really love squeezing the sponge and dripping out all the things on everyone else and that might sound like a really yucky weird analogy but that’s essentially what this podcast is it’s me giving you all of the things that i filtered through and i’ve you know read a lot and consumed a lot and then acted on a lot i’ve taken action and taking action is the key to having success and so I’m encouraging you today right now in this very moment that when you listen to the podcast that you don’t just say oh it makes me feel so much better but that you create actionable items for yourself to do that you move that when you feel moved you move right like when you feel the motion you take action on it so that you can continue to create ripple effects in your life and actually use these principles and these this information to move yourself forward because there’s no growth when we stand still right we were not made to stand still we were not made to be still we’re made to move okay so I want to talk to you guys a little bit about future pacing and really this concept of how important it is that we view our future with as much clarity as we view our past so it’s like thinking about the future moments that you want to achieve as a memory and memories are really really powerful right like we can they can be triggered by a lot of things sounds smells going to the exact same places and we can hear a song and it takes us right back we can smell a smell and it takes us right back and those memories they evoke emotion in us and they they really really move us and so it’s important that we find a way to turn the things that we are dreaming of the things that we are envisioning the things that we’re planning into a memory and there’s actually like studies of this there are people who literally built their businesses on this whole concept of turning your future dreams into like a memory and it kind of actually makes me think about there’s a line in hamilton if you haven’t seen that why it’s so good and he says I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory when’s it gonna get me and I thought that’s you know I wonder how many people noticed that line and how truly powerful it is are you imagining something so much that it feels like a memory and one like I just said a memory is all encompassing it it takes all five senses and it really captivates you and he’s focusing so much on death that I fee I think eventually he really wills himself to have what I think all of us could say as a premature death he he should have lived a lot longer he had a lot more to do but when you focus on things and you you see them so clearly like you would see a memory which you’ve already experienced and if you can make that future event as real as if it had already happened you’re literally calling it to you and so the significance of him saying I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory it’s no coincidence that he died very very young so with you in your own life and your business and the endeavors that you have are you imagining your future goals so vividly that they feel like a memory so how can we do this if you really break down the components of what a memory entails like I said it includes all of the senses so when you are setting goals are you keeping them very like two-dimensional on a vision board but you’re not fully immersing yourself in the visualization and really getting to the root core emotion of what you want it to feel like when you achieve that goal I think a lot of times we do this we write it down on paper or maybe we’re using you know vocal affirmations but we really don’t take the time to fully experience the success and the way the success will feel when we get there and this is I think well I know what made a huge difference for us in our business and even just my personal growth in general was leaning into it becoming more of a sensory experience and nobody taught me this that’s that’s the cool thing is I you know i was reading all these books and it was all just theoretical stuff but I never learned anywhere how to do this and so later on like years later I started hearing people talking about you know these different concepts and really how you have to be successful before you attract success to you and I was like oh my gosh that’s what I was doing that’s how this all came to be because I imagined the success so vividly that it felt like a memory it felt like it had already happened and so it was inevitable that those things come to me so how can we do this how can you do this how can you take those goals and dreams and make them more three-dimensional and make them feel more like a memory well you have to think about the components of a memory you know exactly where you are when it happened right so when you think about oh I want to make this much money or I want to achieve this thing online do you know where you’re going to be when that happens do you know what your life is going to look like will you have a team of people working with you will you live in a certain place and I know that we can’t tell the future but at the same time we create the future by doing things in the present moment by imagining and by forecasting and foretelling these things we have a lot more say in the future than we think and I think when you regain that power or when you acknowledge that you’ve had it all along then it changes the game for you and creation and your life because a lot of us have become subject to this thought of you know we are just reacting to everything happening around us when that’s not true we’re not we’re actually creating everything around us we’re observers but we’re also creators so everything you have in your life right now everything you look around and you have or don’t have is the product of your own creation and that’s a really scary responsibility to take on to start realizing that you have formed the things around you and that you have called people and circumstances into your life because some of them might not be great and you might not be happy with them but what you focus on grows right like i’ve talked about that before wherever your attention is it expands it continues to grow so what are you focusing on when you think about the future is it filled with fear is it filled with trepidation is it filled with anxiety are you imagining you like have this goal but then you still imagine the future of your life without the accomplishment of the goal or when you think about your goals are you actually imagining yourself achieving them are you thinking about yourself as a transformed person are you thinking about the evolution and are you imagining yourself being the person that you’re hoping to become right now there is so it’s so so so important the whole uh the whole concept of feeling something before you can really act on it and a lot of people they’ll kind of juggle back and forth between this they just take massive action but they really haven’t gotten to the root feeling of what they want to achieve they’re just like I just got to keep in motion if I can just stay busy and just go go go go then things will happen but they really never took the time to define what it is that they want to happen how they want it to feel how they want to change how they want to evolve as a person so it’s really really important to start with that feeling component you have to you have to know all of the feelings just like it is when you’re experiencing a memory so close your eyes and imagine one of your favorite memories as vivid as you can as vividly as you can imagine one of your favorite memories I’m thinking I’m thinking of one this just randomly came to my mind of being in california adventure I loved going to disneyland with my kids every single week when we lived in southern california it was so much fun but I have this one particular time in mind and I actually think this comes back to me quite often but i’ve never really vocalized it and I can tell you all the detail I know that we were in the little area over kind of by the grand california hotel and there’s this fun little obstacle course and it’s kind of like a really really big playground area for kids you can walk on all of these ropes and this netting I’m not not doing it justice but it’s really really fun and my kids always wanted to go there and i was like you’re in disneyland you’re in california adventuring you just want to go to a park that’s so weird but they loved it and i just remember going there and having the churro cart right outside that area so if you’ve ever been if you’ve been frequently you will remember this you can always smell the churros right as you’re about to go in there and I just remember like i remember how hard it was to not only navigate walking over like those rope net things by myself but also having to help my younger ones to get across too but it was so fun because we were actually working together as a family and we were doing something and we weren’t just sitting on rides or standing in lines it was really really interactive and I loved how happy and fun it was for my kids to go and experience that there’s like a tunnel so I can think about the sounds I can think about the smells I can I can remember and you guys all of us if you’ve been to disneyland or disney world you know the smell of the water rides right instantly when I say that it takes you right back to memory you’re on the ride you can think of small world it’s so vivid where if you close your eyes you could pretty much just put yourself right back in that moment so if you think about all of the senses that we just encompassed you can see it you know exactly where you were you know how it felt you know how it smelled you know how it tasted you remember the foods that you’re eating I literally can still remember like pushing around the stroller and and the snacks that we used to take into the park every single time so are you taking the time to get that detailed with your goals with your affirmations are you just speaking words or are you speaking truth into reality and do you understand the power of your words do you understand that when you speak things and when you take the time to feel these things all the way deep in your soul that you actually do have the power to change matter to create things around you it’s true it’s like scientifically proven it’s spiritually proven it’s a real thing so it’s kind of like I remember hearing like you can deny whether a magnet magnetizes but it doesn’t change the fact that it does like it’s a law it just does the same is true with the law of attraction the law of creation what you focus on grows what you speak happens and once you realize that power you want to be a lot more intentional and this is why a lot of people they you know they try to manifest they try to have affirmations they set goals they do vision boards and so many people take the time to do that but they still don’t ever achieve the thing that they’re setting out to do and it’s because they lack this space this going into this feeling component of their goal setting of making the future feel just like a memory so I want you guys to do this I want to challenge you to take one of your goals take all of your goals but start with one and create a memory in the future pick a song to when you hear it it’s going to liven you up I mean I did this when we had our glow event in nashville I knew the song that we were going to start out the event with and I listened to it pretty much every single day for like three months and I would visualize so vividly what it was going to feel like to finally be done with the planning phase and have people there and actually you know step out on the stage and be able to start this event and help people and change lives and I focused on that with so much energy and I felt it I I would literally cry sometimes thinking about it I would get nervous I would feel the adrenaline rush and I would get nervous and start shaking I felt the feelings like they had already happened like I was imagining a memory from the past and when the moment came it was very familiar to me it wasn’t like shocking and it wasn’t crazy and it didn’t catch me off guard I knew I was familiar with this moment I had experienced this moment in my head and in my heart so many times that when it actually did happen it was like reliving a memory so you guys hopefully are comprehending and understanding maybe that’s been the disconnect for me maybe that’s why in spite of the fact that I’m a really big dreamer and I have really big visions for my life and for my future why maybe why it’s not happening because you step back into reality you know like if you’re separating the vision of the future from the current experience and from the life that you’re living and you can’t make the connection then it’s going to be really really hard to keep creating for that future but if you hold on to that memory and you don’t have to sit there and meditate on it for like hours every day but just the way that you recall a memory really quickly how it kind of comes and you think about it for a minute and then you let it go the same should be the case with the future memories that you’re creating let them come into your mind entertain them for a minute and accept them as they are reality don’t think of them as like this thing this hopeful thing that’s way in the future that’s never going to happen accept them that they are happening right now that you are literally on the path to creating those opportunities and the achievement of those goals and that really changes the action that you take it really really moves the needle forward when you’ve gotten into that sense of feeling because then you’ll be able to recognize when the things that you are doing the action you’re taking is not in alignment with that so if you’re trying to set a goal to grow your business to six figures but you’re still doing behaviors that are not making you even like four or five figures in your business you still haven’t found the right habits and you’re still not working with the right people and you haven’t figured out how to hire people then you’re obviously going to recognize that your action is not in alignment with the way that it was going to feel to achieve success if you’ve been able to spell out every detail I know I’m going to have a team of people that are going to be supporting me I know I’m going to launch this thing i know I’m going to be able to sell it to this many people I know that our audience is going to be this big then you’re going to start to pattern your actions to support that feeling right you know exactly you’ve already defined the future memory so it’s not going to be foreign for you to start establishing all of the elements that need to be in place for you to get there and I think a lot of times when we are putting out our dreams and goals and when uh we’re trying to manifest big things for our lives and for our business we think oh if I just meditate on it and I just sit there and i’ll you know i just um and I just have to have enough faith I think people confuse faith with they think of it as kind of like a just a feeling instead of a verb faith is action you have to move forward you have to take action right sitting there just focusing on how wonderful it would be to be successful but not doing anything to support that is very detrimental and so that’s why it’s really important that on that first step and we’ll just we’ll just kind of leave it here today with the future memory and future pacing I just wanted to bring that to your attention because when you are able to do that then the action changes and the receiving changes and so we’re going to talk about those things in the next couple of episodes but thank you so much for listening to today’s I hope this has opened your mind and opened your
